Mini NDP @ Syam! - AKHAWAT DMASYQ

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Assalamu’alaikum everyone! For the first time ever, u all will be getting updates from the akhawat’s side, right here @ DMASYQ blog! (sounds exclusive, no? hehe)

To date, we’d organised various activities, such as sports, Ladies’ Nite, usrah, and tadarrus. Not forgetting our very first National Day Celebration (akhawat) which was held last Saturday at Sis Hazimah’s place. A simple event it was. Nevertheless, we had a memorable time watching our very own Marching Band (haa!), declaring the Singapore pledge and National Anthem before launching into a sing-together of National Day songs. In the spirit of our homeland, we even had delicious Ayam Masak MERAH and Lauk Lemak PUTIH for dinner!

On the eve of National Day, we also managed to perform a congregational Solat Hajat for our beloved Homeland. May Singapore always be in peace and harmony, and may Allah Shower His Care and Protection for our loved ones. Walau jauh di mata, namun dekat di hati…

Meanwhile, we also have Borders: a bimonthly gathering of all Singaporean Akhawat. Here’s the time where we share and discuss selected topics. Prior to each session, two sisters will be selected as presenters. Everyone will ultimately get the chance to present and we hope this will aid towards refining our presentation skills, biidznillah.

The session is divided into two parts: part I where the first sister will choose a few topics from the book “The Ideal Muslimah” by Mohamed Ali Al-Hashimi and share them with everyone else, including inputs of her own. Part II, on the other hand, is where the other sister chooses a particular topic of interest, and opens the floor for discussions. Topics chosen are usually based on current affairs, like the Joint Madrasah System (JMS), Homosexuality, Islam and Modernity and Music in Islam.

Borders has benefited us a lot thus far. Not only are we able to share and exchange ideas and opinions and learn from each other, we also get to assemble together and be united as one!
^-^ Go Akhawat!
