Last dars of Al Hub fil Quran by Syeikh Al-Buti

بسم الله والصلاة على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم

The wonderful series of dars on “Al-Hubb fil Qur’an” by Syeikh Sa’id Ramadhan al-Buti –hafizahullah- finally came to an end last Monday, 8th February 2010.
Syeikh summarized the main points he’d shared throughtout the series, stressing on three main points:

1. It’s okay to put forth one’s heart for his/her loved one, provided that the one he sacrificed his heart for is the One who created that heart in the 1st place.
In other words: never sacrifice our heart except for Allah, even if by doing so (by carrying out Allah’s Commands as best as we can, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, etc.) might result in halak (destruction, ruin), for such “destruction” are external (dzahir), and will lead to eternal happiness.
Even if we were to die in the course of our sacrifice for Allah, surely The All-Capable will return us a life full of happiness and ever-lasting. Ameen!

2. There’s NEVER a limit to how much a servant can love Allah. There’s no such thing as “overly/extreme love for Allah” (mubaalaghah) because if such a term exists, then it also means that Allah’s blessings and graces are also limited! And Allah Ta’ala mentioned in surah : {وإن تعد نعمة الله لا تحصوها} .
Among the Signs of Allah al-Hakeem, is the fact that He created humans with weaknesses and imperfections. Such that no matter how hard they try their best to prove their love for Allah (by performing various form of worshipping, etc.), they will never be able to do so, due to their limited energy and capacity. On the other hand, love is a feeling that outweighs all those acts. Thus, again, no matter how much we try, we’ll never reach the level that Allah Ta’ala Deserves. In fact, all of us are far from carrying out our true duties as HIS servants. ما منا إلا مقصر في تواجه الله ...

3. In anything that we do, always remember to preserve our ‘aql (mind). always be in control of our mind. Our ‘aql need to be in a good state, because it is the torch that will lead us to reach the highest level of al-Hubb. Without this light, how are we going to travel through the Path of Allah?
Last but not least, Syeikh shared 2 ways to enable the Love for Allah (mahabbatullah) to be engraved in our hearts:
1- Increase remembrance of Allah: ولتكن ذكرك باللسان مفتاح إلى ذكرك بالقلب
2- Always feel that Allah is Watching us all the time (muraaqabatullah), and to always link all the ni’mah that we get, to the One Who Granted those ni’mah to us in the first place…
ربط النعم بالمنعم دائماً

May we be granted the Love of Allah ‘azza wa jalla and the Love of Rasulullah ‘alaihis solatu wassalam…ameen.

Sollu ‘alal habiib!~

Note: Syeikh Buti has just started on a series of dars on Tarikh at-Tasyri’ last Monday, replacing the dars on al-Hubb that has been completed.
