Alhamdulillah and Salam to our beloved Prophet saw. Gentle greetings to all, we hope that with this little dakwah reaches u in the best of form. Insyallah. We would also like to express our gratitude and wish to everyone the best of health but importantly the greatest of Imaan. In this 1st issue we would love to hear about your comments and to tell u guys the truth it is not easy to summarize and translate the sermon. But Alhamdulillah, Allah Mustaan, please bear in mind guys that we are still students any mistakes or choices of words is purely due to our lack of ability and knowledge but we will try to minimize it and counter the mishap by continuously rechecking it among our peers. Please make doa for consistency and we will do the same. Hope that our little effort is being recognized by Allah swt amin. Lots of love from all of us here to all of u out there!

Meaning:

” O who believe! Fear Allah and keep your duty to him. And let every person look to for what he has sent for the morrow and fear Allah. Verily Allah is well acquainted with what u do.-18- and be not like those who forgot Allah, (i.e. be disobedient to Allah), and he caused them to forget their own selves (forget to do good deeds). Those are faasiquun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah)”-Surah Al Hashr 19-

New year

In the verge of celebrating the New Year, People around the globe anticipate its arrival, be it the New Year of the Muslim calendar or the Christian calendar. People from all walks of life celebrated the event. And each of them differently and uniquely commemorate it according to their practices, believes and normality. And it is an ongoing event throughout our lives.

As I mentioned earlier, people will anticipate this annual event according to their philosophical ways, faiths, practices and normality. Unfortunately, many chose to celebrate this most anticipated event in an improper fashion or manner.

A Muslim, who believes in the oneness of Allah swt, believes the Day of Judgment; the day which all of us will be accounted for our good or bad deeds in this life will celebrate in a different measure as to end his year and make amends for his shortcomings in his previous years.

Businessman

Like any successful businessman, At the end of the year, he will diligently review his businesses; try to cut back on his losses and at the same time, learn from his mistakes and makes up a plan or even sets up a goal for the next upcoming year. So that the same mistakes and losses will not be repeated. These attributes amplify passion and dedication in his work.

Same goes for a Muslim one must not think that he had done enough deeds. He must reflect on himself. What he had done, is he in any way closer to Allah swt? How many deeds and actions were solely projected only for Allah swt?

Alas, the only thing he did was measure his material riches and not his debts towards Allah swt. Worst still, there are people who believed in partying their lives throughout. For them that is the norm. And there are those who lived their lives without realising the importance of resolution.

STORY

Once upon a time of need and greed, there is an old man who is both pious and humble. He went to a mansion. And knock upon the door and there answered the housekeeper. Immediately but gently he posed her a question “I want to ask the owner of this mansion am I free or am I a slave?” being so proud and looking down upon this shabby looking person. She slammed the door shut unto his face. When she was asked by her master who was at the door, she told him it was nobody. And she told him that he doesn’t want anything from them but had posed a very stupid question. Directly after listening to the question his heart felt bad and wrong, he ran and searches for the old man and cried. “I am a slave and not a freeman!”Soberly he repented in front of the old man. As he reaches back to his mansion he gathers all his wealth and give alms to the poor and needy.

Moral

We are slaves in this world and we must not forget nothing is greater than Allah swt. A Muslim must rigorously think of a way, how he can continuously increases his Imaan (faith) and syariah (deeds), expands his capacity as a Muslim by doing extra good deeds, not to repeat the same sins, to overcome it, to repent and retrieve back Allah swt blessing and grace in his daily life.

This is the true meaning of anticipating and celebrating upon the New Year and end of the year. And with that I ask Allah swt for the true meanings of returns and bounties, hopefully that of prophet’s saw ways and Allah swt blessings.

أقول قولي هذا وأستتغفرالله العظيم لي ولكم.

Sermon by As-Syeikh AbdurRahman Al-Boutiy ((حافظه الله.
