After the melodious recitation, the event was officially opened by DMASYQ’s President Fadli Bin Ayub with his rally. Amongst its contents were for Dmasyqians to take education and life seriously. He also emphasized the need for the young to respect the elderly. Next, everyone stood up to read the pledge and sing the Singapore anthem.
An 11-minute video on Singapore was then screened while Dmasyqians had their tea and biscuits. The video highlighted how Singapore had matured and bloomed since Stamford Raffles first came. A Singapore-special quiz was up next. It was hosted by the humorous senior Bro Achmed Fadli Bin Kamsari. It was an exciting affair which saw 5 groups battle to answer. The winners were team Leftenan Adnan and Hang Nadim. It was close to Maghrib when this ended.
After Maghrib prayers, a succinct tazkirah was given by Bro Munir, who spoke in 3 languages quite effortlessly. He touched on the importance of preparing for the great blessed month of Ramadhan. He stressed that one has to do lots of repentance for his 11 months past before concentrating to worship wholeheartedly in Ramadhan. The audience benefitted from his tazkirah insyaAllah.
The next activity was a lively discussion and sharing session moderated by respected Bro Azim and Bro Hairuddin on topics pertaining to Singapore ranging from patriotism, our roles as Singaporeans and da’wah in Singapore. Dmasyqians were divided into groups and given turns to speak out their views and ideas. Many step up to the plate and speak with aplomb. It was a beneficial and enlightening discussion which triggered Dmasyqians to think more deeply on issues that were not given focus before.
It was close to 9.30pm before the whole event ended. No event is complete without food! Dmasyqians were treated to sumptuous Nasi Lemak and bandung. It was not surprising to see the big periuk of nicely-fried chicken gone in minutes!
Before everyone bade farewell to an eventful evening, Dmasyqians had the opportunity to celebrate fellow family member, lovingly known as Cik Razak and Cik Rokiah’s 42nd Marriage Anniversary. Moreover, they were leaving for Singapore that night. They had touched many of their younger dmasyqians life here in one way or another with their zest in life regardless their age.
