Sharings from Home...

Our loyal online visitors, especially those in the Lion City, have been getting updates from Syam on activities organized by Dmasyq. i’m sure most –if not ALL- of us here are eager to know what’s happening back there in Singapore. Fret not, we’ve managed to get some of our Dmasyq alumni in Singapore to share with us their personal experiences and feelings once they stepped into the ever-changing Little Red Dot.

We’ll publish them one at a time, for the next 2 weeks to come. Check them out!

For a start, here’s what our akh Syahrin bin Mohamed Salleh shared:

In the name of Allah Most Beneficent, Most Merciful

It has been almost five weeks since my return to sunny Singapore. Memories brought back from the blessed land of Syam keep playing in my mind. It has become a movie that has being played countless of times already and will continue to play another countless more.

As much as we would like to be among our brothers and sisters back there. We have to face reality. Allah azza wa jalla has brought us back to Singapore now and we are back for a reason. To serve…parents, family, neighbours, society and the ummah at large. Whoever and whenever needed and called upon.

Looking around at the current society and environment in Singapore, it doesn’t take long before one will feel that “God Consciousness” is little or non-existent so to speak. This whole system is designed in such a way to drive people away from God. Life here is scary. Call me exaggerating but I will say that people are just pushing themselves to the limits with their “God Defying” acts and lifestyle. Looking at the current state, the verse of Surah Ar-Rahman which is repeated 30 times comes to my mind:

“Then which of the favors of your Lord will ye deny?”

Alhamdulillah, we have our like-minded Dmasyq alumni brothers…and sisters of course. The tarbiyah that we all obtained from the blessed land of Syam has done wonders. Alhamdulillah tsumma alhamdulillah, each and every brother has that burning drive to serve the ummah at whatever level entrusted with. May Allah keep it that way. That’s why having regular meetings is deemed essential. We share experiences, we encourage one another and we advise one another. We have matured…

Our immediate task right now is assist Dmasyq with Khidmah 2009 by carrying out the amaanah entrusted upon us. We are at your service.

A couple of advice to those still having the ni’mah of being in the blessed land of Syam:

1) Make full use of your time there, ours have ended. While there, don’t count the days but make each day count.

2) Equip yourself with whatever you can. You may win the battle in Syam but the war back home is far from over.

3) Get educated, not schooled.

In conclusion, the thought and mentioning of all of you will always be in our daily du’a, without fail, insyaAllah. We pray for your well-being and success. May Allah guide not only us, but every seeker of knowledge, be it in Syam, Cairo, Madinah al-Munawwarah or anywhere in the world.

May He make us see the truth as truth and false as false. And may we speak and deliver only the truth of His Deen. Allahumma Ameen.

Lastly, there is much work to be done here and everyone has a part to play.

We wait for your return…all of you.
